Congress Passes Funding for Health Centers

In a late-night turned early-morning vote, Congress passed an omnibus spending bill that increases funding for community health centers.

Last month, Congress fixed the funding cliff by extending and increasing the mandatory side of health center funding. Last month's HR 1892 provided an additional $200 million for the fiscal year (FY) 2018 budget compared to FY 2017 and $400 million more for the FY 2019 budget compared to FY2017.

The passage of HR 1625 last night brought the discretionary portion of health centers' budget to $1.63 billion, up from $1.5 billion.
