Future of Senate Health Care Repeal Effort Uncertain
After failing to garner the number of votes needed to pass the Better Care Reconciliation Act (BCRA), Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced Monday he would instead pursue a straight repeal of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). In 2015, senators voted to repeal the ACA when it was clear it would be vetoed by then President Obama. This week, three senators came out in opposition to the repeal plan. Without their support, the bill does not have the necessary votes to pass. Currently, Senator McConnell is calling for a procedural vote on repeal early next week.
